Philip Howie was trained at the New York School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in Manhattan and graduated in 1986. His career has included commissions from Michael Pulitzer, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Fred Hughes (Andy Warhol’s business manager) in addition to many others. Howie’s life sized sculpture is installed at the Lady of The Grace Abbey in St. Louis.

In 2011 after Hurricane Irene struck and Howie attempted to save his sculptures from flooding in his Catskill studio, he suffered a massive stroke. His right side was totally paralyzed and he lost his capacity for speech. Determined to keep drawing, even in the hospital, he switched from his right to left hand and painstakingly taught himself draw again.

Since then his work has been exhibited in many galleries in New York City and the Hudson Valley. He is currently working on a graphic novel.
